Human IL-1A

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) is a crucial cytokine involved in inflammation, encoded by the IL1A gene in humans. It plays a key role in bridging the innate and adaptive immune systems by forming a receptor complex that activates signaling pathways leading to inflammatory responses. Additionally, IL-1 alpha acts as an "alarmin," alerting the immune system to cell damage and DNA stress, highlighting its dual function in both promoting inflammation and sensing cellular injury.
